FAQs

These are just some of the questions people have asked relating to the Website While You Wait Service – but don’t hesitate to get in touch if there is something else you would like to know more about…

Q. Can I have more than 10 pages on my website?

A. We will build up to 10 pages for you as standard and we train you how to use the WordPress Content Management System while we build your site, so you can add as many pages as you like once we have completed your project (because you will know how to!).
This gives you complete flexibility as you have the access to update content, add and remove pages and upload images without having to pay any extra if you want to do it yourself.

Q. I need a website FAST, how fast can you complete this?

A. Typically one week! We agree two dates that you can come into the Ascendancy office to work on your new website with us. Each session is 4 hours long – the one week gap between the two sessions gives you a chance to reflect on the first session, write content for the site, and come up with any questions you wish to bring up at the second session.
If you need your website urgently (less than one week), please just call us on 01952 462845 as we can discuss if we can fit you in.

Q. Can I have an e-commerce site included in this package?

A. Unfortunately this service doesn’t allow enough time to build an e-commerce site, as this requires more functionality and we want to make sure you know how to use your site afterwards. So, we would recommend talking to us about our other website design services.
We can build larger and more complex websites if this is what you need, but the format and price will vary. We are more than happy to prepare a quote that is tailored to your business needs.

Q. I don’t have time to come in and see my website being built, can you do this remotely?

A. One of the biggest benefits of this service is that you can see how to use your website in the future and understand the WordPress content management system. Without you here with us, you wouldn’t be getting the full package!
Having said that, we are flexible and we do occasionally offer the service via Skype for clients who can’t get to us in person – give us a call to discuss if you are interested in this option.

Q. I have no idea at all what I want my website to look like, can you still help me?

A. Of course! Before the date of your first session, we will send you a questionnaire which helps us to better understand your requirements and the kinds of designs you like and dislike. While you’re here with us we will put forward various design ideas to which you will say ‘yes’ or ‘no’ or ‘I like bits of that one and bits of this one’ – this will enable us to come up with a design you like. You don’t have to have any design skill or even design ideas – you just need to be able to say what you like and what you don’t like.

Q. Wouldn’t it be easier to design the site without the client there? Won’t I be holding things up?

A. There are some parts of the website design and build where, yes, frankly it would be easier not to have the client around. But that is more than compensated for by the time savings we make by getting instant client feedback. And that’s one of the reasons for having the one week break between the two sessions – to allow us some time to do a few jobs we couldn’t get done with you there, and to allow you some space to pull together your content and reflect on the work done in the first session.

Q. Won’t there be a compromise on design quality, building the site so quickly?

A. We obviously can’t put quite as much time into your design as we would on a project with a higher budget. But this would be the same whether you used the Website While You Wait service or another low-cost service – the price you pay for any website is naturally based on the amount of time the provider puts into the project. The concept behind Website While You Wait is that by cutting out all the usual to-ing and fro-ing that goes on between client and web developer, we can provide you with a fabulous looking website with great functionality at an affordable cost.

Q. Are you going to hold me to coming back after precisely one week? What happens if I can’t finish my text in time or if I catch chicken pox or suffer a freak accident with a staple gun?

A. Well, these things happen and we are flexible people. We recommend that the second session be held a week after the first to put a bit of time pressure on all parties – we don’t want to lose momentum. But we’re not going to hold you to exactly one week – we can work around your schedule, but we will be encouraging you to finish the site before too much time elapses and you lose your train of thought.
