Cognitive Analytic Therapy (or CAT) looks at the way a person thinks, feels and acts. This therapy brings together what we understand from other psychotherapies such as Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and turn it into one effective and user-friendly therapy. It is tailored to meet you own individual goals for change.
Therapy involves understanding how we currently cope with emotional distress and our difficult relationship with others. CAT can be used for a range of disorders such as depression, anxiety and relationship problems. It has also been known for use to help eating disorders and personality disorders. CAT requires you to be motivated to explore childhood experiences that may have contributed to the problem.
CAT can offer a way to think about yourself differently, help you to find out what the issue is, how it has started, how it effects your life and how it can help you to get the best out of your life. Cat attempts to identify and explore coping patterns that may have formed as a result of previous experiences. CAT shows you the way to change your learned attitudes and beliefs about yourself and others, and helps you focus on ways to improve and re learn these attitudes.
